The sound of the falling heart is a dreamlike correspondence between Chilean Patagonia and French Bask Country. Two women separated by oceans are finally united by the journey of the stream of consciousness and by the same big city.
Director Biography – Julia Beyer Agostini, Claudia Valdivia
Julia Beyer Agostini (29 years old) was born in Paris. She first came into cinema through journalism, writing film critics and reviews for several French newspapers and media such as Le Figaro, Première, France Inter. She moved to Argentina in 2016 to reconnect with part of her family history. In Buenos Aires, she worked as a Production Coordinator and Programming of Les Avant-Premières, French film Festival and the Green Film Fest, environmental film Festival. She is currently working as a Festival Manager for an art-house latin american films distribution company.
Julia Beyer Agostini worked as a director and editor in a few short-movies and created some poetic experimental videos that were screened for the first time in 2021 in Cultural Art Centers along with her analog photo work. In 2021, she co created “Archivos Compartidos”, an experimental short films exhibition. The same year, she wrote and directed an essay documentary “The sound of the falling heart” with Claudia Valdivia. She is currently working as artistic director on “Pretérito”, a fictional short film funded by FNA, the National Arts Funds of Argentina.
Claudia Valdivia was born in 1987 in Coyhaique, Chile. She is a graphic designer and filmmaker. For four years she worked as a producer and artistic director of video clips at Music Thinking Project, a Chilean production company, which led her to study film in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Between 2017 and 2019, she worked as artistic director of short films produced in Buenos Aires. In 2019, she directed the documentary “Gordes” about body diversity and fat activism in Argentina.
Between 2019 and 2020, she shot and directed the documentary short “Despertar con Helicópteros”, a portrait of a young woman’s experience of repression in Chile, currently in post-production. In 2021, she wrote and directed an essay documentary “The sound of the falling heart” with Julia Beyer Agostini. She is currently in pre-production of “Pretérito”, a fictional short film.
